Representing Victims of Asbestos-Related Larynx Cancer

Howard, Brenner & Nass, P.C. is representing victims of larynx cancer resulting from asbestos exposure. There is evidence suggesting an elevated risk of laryngeal cancer in those people who have been exposed to asbestos. Asbestos workers inhale asbestos fibers as they breathe in through the nose or mouth. The fibers then come into contact with the larynx, trachea and lungs.

Larynx Cancer & Asbestos

The larynx is also called the voice box. It is a 2-inch-long tube located in the neck at the top of the trachea. The larynx is made of cartilage and is used to breathe, talk and swallow. The larynx envelopes the vocal cords. Larynx cancer, or laryngeal cancer, affects over 12,000 people in this country each year. Larynx cancer can develop in any part of the organ: the glottis, the supraglottis, or the subglottis. Symptoms of larynx cancer depend on which part of the larynx the tumor is located. Symptoms may include: hoarseness, changes in the voice, lump on the neck, sore throat, earache, difficulty breathing, noisy breathing, lump in the throat, persistent cough, weight loss, bad breath, choking and difficulty swallowing. Larynx cancer often spreads to the lymph nodes in the neck. Cancer of the larynx is treated through radiation, chemotherapy, and partial or total laryngectomy.
